Lesson #1

Never Take 3rd Grade Girls On A Night Hike in the Woods.

haha so i forgot that im not a girly girl. i forgot that lil girls are afraid of the dark. I forgot that horses tend to poo on the horse trails. I forgot that lil girls dont like these things. see ive always been a sorta tom-boy, never really a girly girl so these things dont cross my mind. i forgot that..... hahah YEAH... That was great.
i ended up having to carry one of my girls the entire time and most of my other girls were in tears. we were supposed to get to see an owl....hahah did not happen. but it did lead to a good discussion on fear and what the bible says about fear.

oh goodness. Camp Victory, Where memories are made!

the jist of the week

hey family and friends!
First week of camp is complete, i had 10 campers; 6 3rd graders, 3 4th graders, and 1 5th grader.
9 out of 10 of them were first time campers.
hehe, the week was stretching in many ways. I can tell that this summer is going to be crazy in stretching and challenges, spiritually at least. The message that hit home so much in my heart and mind is that there is no way that i can do this alone and there is no way that i can go into this with out a plan or with out preparation. i dont know how to describe it other then that.
Im excited for this though, I think that there is so much that the Lord has to teach me right now that im just trying to buckle my seat belt and enjoy the ride.

ok ill try to make this quick.
the rest of the staff arrived on friday night and we began training not too long after. the weekend was mainly the time for us counselors to get to know each other.
Friday night we tried to go on a night hike with the purpose of owl watching...we did ya know, night hike..., but the owls did not respond to our guide's call. but thats ok, it made for a funny memory.
Saturday morning we went exploring on the challenge course where we did some team building activities. Thank God we didnt have to do the 10ft wall! in one of our events though, one of our girls fainted, which was kinda scary, but one of those group unity growing event.
Sunday the CIT's and LIT's (High School Staff, they vollunteer to help out in the cafeteria and on the grounds) arrived. MASS CHAOS ERUPTS!!!!!! picture it this way. for a week its just the main camp staff and three college students on the camp ground. then 18 more college students show up on a friday, and the following sunday, 55 high school students come. you go from complete silence, to not so much, to people everywhere! its great
Monday and tuesday are a blur really. those 48 hours seemed more like a week on thier own. we had flag raising at 7:35. breakfast at 8. class @9. then i was in the crafts room form like 11-12:30. and after lunch, I got to .....DUN DUN DUN!!!! RIDE A HORSE!!!!! thats right Kristen, i rode a horse!!!!!! the first time in my life! and i LOVED IT!!! lil freaky at first but omg! AHHhHHHHHHHHH it was great!. after that we had more classes, and we would have dinner, and then chapel time and then play intense volleyball games and then go to bed @11pm. this schedule was repeated for that monday and tuesday and the jist of it but with different events was how the rest of the weeks went. we filmed some stuff for camp. (you know how global has improve skit stuff. well we have skits here too, but they are all on fridays and the rules is done by video. its pretty kul.
i find it ironic that my first summer with global, the theme was western/hillbilly. and my first summer here the theme is hillbilly.
its great.
we did so much its hard to record it all. but yesterday we did some grounds work, i got to work a really powerful pressure washer to wash some boats! that was fun! (hehe when i was helping hold a boat for someone else that was using the pressure washer, they knocked my sun glasses off my face. i was really close to becoming blind quickly.) last night i got to climb a rock wall for the first time. thats gonna take awhile. i am currently unable to get too far from the ground.
now, its back to silence, the training is over so all the CIT's and LIT's are gone until they return, about 20 at a time, for their week of work. most of the staff lives round here so they were able to go home for the weekend. some went out to Dothan. im chillin with 4 other counselors and the only CIT that remains (pretty cool, the CIT is from West VA. The college that we stayed at about 3 or so years ago at the ski retreat, in Beckley WV, is the college that her dad works at. she is using this time down here as a mission project, she raised the money for her plane ticket), yep and we are just relaxing watching a movie.
i realize that this is ridiculously long. so. since this is just the details of what i have done...there is really so much more, that is under the surface, that the Lord has been teaching me. and its not even the 1st week of camp yet!!!

Hello!

Hey yall, im alive, i will try to give you a better update later, but i dont know how well this will all work out....bits and pieces over time.
